Wild cat rangers work in some of the harshest conditions on the planet, often risking their lives, to help protect the world’s wild cats. For a minimum of a $50 donation, you can outfit a wild cat ranger with the supplies needed to effectively protect big cats from their most critical threats.

How it helps

Whether based in the icy temperatures of Mongolia's Tost Mountain Range, or the steamy tropics of Indonesia these patrol teams are no strangers to adversity in the field. They battle temperatures reaching highs of 120°F and lows of -58°F, rain and sand storms, flooding, illnesses including malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever, and parasites, swarms of mosquitoes, and threats from poachers - and this is all in the day of a life of a park guard.

Provide these men and women with the proper protection and supplies they need to effectively conserve big cats. A minimum of a $50 gift will support wild cats and the patrol teams working to protect them in one of the following ways:

• Provide waterproof boots for a member of an anti-poaching patrol unit protecting tigers
• Provide a backpack for the community scouts protecting lions in Kenya
• Provide a protective snake-bite kit for rangers working to protect jaguars in the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America
• Provide binoculars for rangers tracking Asia’s elusive ‘Mountain Ghost,’ the snow leopard

Sponsor a camera trap and gain access to what Panthera's scientists see on a monthly basis.

One of the critical monitoring tools Panthera uses across all of our cat programs is the camera trap – remote-triggered cameras which allow us to ‘count cats’. Wild cats live in some of the harshest conditions in the world, and some, like the snow leopard (nicknamed Asia’s ‘Mountain Ghost’) are notorious for being elusive and are seldom seen by humans in the wild. In these conditions, camera traps act as windows into the secret lives of wild cats around the globe, and often, these traps pick up more than just cats! Camera traps provide Panthera’s scientists with critical data needed to monitor individuals and populations which ultimately help us determine if our conservation actions are having the intended effect – an increase in cat numbers.

A minimum gift of $1,000 provides you with first hand access to the images captured by one of Panthera’s camera traps. These traps are windows into the world of the lives of big cats, and they provide critical ecological data to help shape effective conservation, and to better protect them.
