One of first photos of a living, wild African golden cat

This is one of the first known camera trap images of a living, wild African golden cat. A camera trap set by Panthera Lion Program Survey Coordinator, Phil Henschel, took this photograph in 2002.

Phil is also responsible for taking the first handheld photos of a live, wild African golden cat in 2003.

Recently, cameras set by Panthera Kaplan scholar Laila Bahaa-el-din in Gabon filmed the first video footage of a wild African golden cat. See the first video footage of a wild African golden cat and get more information about this elusive wild cat at bit.ly/pNCOoz.
