It’s World Lion Day! Here at Panthera, we are celebrating with live dispatches from Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, home of Cecil the lion’s pride, where our partners, Wilderness Safaris, are working hard to keep lions safe from poachers’ snares.
We are also introducing Sintika, a young male ready to disperse from his home in Mudumu, Namibia to find new territory of his own. We put a radio collar on Sintika and will be following his story as he moves from his protected area in Mudumu into a dangerous world faced with many threats: poachers, automobiles, and retaliatory killing primary among them.
Panthera and its partners across Africa are working to reduce those threats and #letlionslive. We hope you’ll join us today and throughout the year by signing up for our email list with the form above. We’ll send you periodic updates about our work to recover dwindling lion populations and how you can help.
Every day is Lion Day at Panthera. Will you Join the Pride?
