Barbara is the coordinator of Panthera’s Jaguar Corridor Initiative in Guatemala. A native Guatemalan biologist, she earned her undergraduate degree from San Carlos University of Guatemala, and a Master’s degree in Conservation and Wildlife Management from the National University of Costa Rica on a DAAD scholarship. Prior to joining Panthera, she worked as an independent consultant and served as coordinator of the Biodiversity Program for the Association of Private Natural Reserves in Guatemala, carrying out more than 10 different biodiversity studies. Barbara has won several research grants to help fund her mammal research in Guatemala and has published six papers about the biodiversity of Central America. She has three years of teaching experience and has completed multiple international courses in Guatemala, Panamá, Costa Rica and Germany.
