Panthera is thrilled to announce that Dan O'Neill has joined our team as Envoy to Wild Cat Conservation and Culture.

Dan is a field biologist, award-nominated wildlife presenter and producer-director with more than a decade of fieldwork studying jaguars, snow leopards and tigers across some of the world's most remote landscapes. His research specializes in the behavior and spatial ecology of large carnivores, using camera traps and drones to reveal the hidden lives of animals that are rarely seen. He is an Honorary Research Associate and Lecturer at the University of Bristol, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. by publication on using emerging technology to study secretive carnivores.
 Dan O'Neill
Alongside his science, Dan has built a remarkable career in wildlife media. His television credits include "Tiger Island" for BBC One and PBS, "Snow Leopards with Dan O'Neill" for Love Nature and Sky Nature, and "How To Live On Earth," a feature documentary hosted by Benedict Cumberbatch that drew more than 8 million viewers in its first month. He has worked with Grammy-winning musician Imogen Heap to create music from nature, on digital and print fashion campaigns, and in nationally touring live events, bringing new audiences to conservation. In October 2026, Dan launched his YouTube channel "The World is Out There" to bring key nature and wildlife stories to a global audience with no paywall.

Dan is also a passionate advocate for inclusive conservation and LGBTQ+ representation in STEM and natural history media, and has twice been named one of Attitude Magazine's 101 Trailblazers in the global LGBTQIA+ community.

In his new role, Dan will help connect Panthera's science and the stories of our field teams with audiences around the world — across broadcast, digital and new media.

We are proud to welcome Dan to Panthera and look forward to the stories we'll tell together.
